The mature outer leaves are carefully sliced from the plant, allowing the inside leaves to continue to grow. It takes about a year for the leaf to hit peak and a single plant can continue producing leaves for many years when it’s properly cared for. Once the leaves are harvested, they are loaded onto a trailer for the first round of processing onsite.

Harvesting Our Aloe

Aloe is the lifeblood of Forever Living. Our aloe fields are where our journey begins and the best part? We own every part of the process to ensure quality at every step. 

It Begins Here 

It all begins at our aloe fields in Texas and the Dominican Republic. We control how our plants are grown and harvested. This allows Forever to produce more than 8 million gallons of the highest quality inner leaf aloe vera every year.

Largest in the word

On over 7,500 acres, we grow 50 million plants and produce 65 million pounds of aloe vera each year.

The Right Variety

Aloe Barbadensis Miller is the most nutritionally valuable variety of aloe vera and the only kind we grow.

Hand Harvested

We harvest by hand to ensure every leaf is perfect for harvest and to avoid damaging the aloe plant. We only grow and harvest Aloe Barbadensis Miller. It’s the most nutritionally valuable variety of aloe that nourishes the body inside and out. 

1. Harvesting 

Harvesting is done by hand. We do this to ensure that we get the best quality leaves possible. This method allows us to remove the top layer of leaves without harming the plant. When harvesting, we want to make sure that we are not pulling too many leaves at once, but instead removing them slowly over time. If we pull too many leaves at once then the plant can become stressed and start to wilt. 

2. Cleaning 

After we have harvested our leaves, we clean them off. We use water and a soft brush to gently clean the leaves. After cleaning, we place the leaves into a bucket filled with water. This helps to keep the leaves hydrated while they dry out. 

Filleted by Hand

The best way to get freshness out of your aloe vera leaves is to use a sharp knife to slice off each leaf from the center. This method allows you to remove the outer layer of the leaf without damaging the inner portion that contains the gel. You can then place this gel into a blender and blend until smooth.
